Methodology of Art History

Pre-requisites: The course requirement is passed exam in Writing on Art.

Course objectives: The goal is to make a practical presentation of the art history methods, and to include a student in the development of "methodological tools" for the interpretation of artworks.

Course description: Main methods of art history. The emergence and development of each method, its potential and problems in implementation. The definition of methods that can be drawn from the above. Practical work (collecting information about a work of art and its interpretation).

Learning Outcomes: The course is designed to instruct the student about the definitions of basic methods of art history; to develop ability of recognizing and understanding methods in art historical texts and the ability to independently use methods. At least, basic knowledge about methods of collecting and checking information about the artist and his work.
