Pre-requisites: There are no specific requirements for attending this course. However, due to the nature of the subject, it is recommended as an elective to students of other study programs who possess theoretical and methodological interest and inclination for interdisciplinary exchange.

Course objectives: The overall objective of the course is to inform on the fundamental methodological concepts, strategies, models, applications, recommendations and examples from the history of methodological ideas in anthropology. The expected goal after successfully completing the examination is to:a) understand the historical, theoretical, social, disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts of creation and transformation of anthropological methodology, b) the ability for application of methodical procedures on selected cultural phenomenon, process, problem or issue in graduate or other research

Course description: Summation is structured around two fundamental distinctions: 1) The methodology of scientific explanation / methodology of scientific information, and 2) Internalist / externalist approaches in the methodology of ethnology and anthropology. The fundamental strategies and methods of scientific explanations in ethnology / anthropology: - Methods of historical strategy - Comparative method - Pseudo-experimental method - Methods of functional strategies - Methods of structural strategies - Semiotic non-functionalist and structural methods - Interpretative methods - Following the problem-application view of the method: Post-structuralism and Postmodern Basic concepts of methodology of scientific information in ethnology / anthropology: - Methodology / methods - Research / field work - The method / knowledge / theory / truth / information - Records / materials / outreach materials - Social science / humanist disciplines - Scientific information / explanation - Scientific interpretation / description - Observation / interview / questionnaire - Scientific strategy / program / problem - Comparative method - Pseudo-experimental method - Methods of functional strategies - Methods of structural strategies Internalist approaches in the methodology of ethnology and anthropology:

Learning Outcomes: The ability of students to perform a comparative, functional, structural-functional, structural, semiotic, post-cultural, discourse analysis and other relevant analysis. The ability of students to devise and carry out research.
