Course objectives: Understanding the education and learning of adults as an individual and a social phenomenon, their theoretical-epistemological conceptualization and acquisition of research skills for basic phenomena of adult education.

Course description: Theoretical course: Constitution of adult education as a science; Methodological-epistemological status of adult education, Conceptions of adult education, Education of adults as a social and individual phenomenon; Social and economical changes and learning society. Determinants of education of adults. Functions of education of adults, Formal, non-formal and informal education, Conceptions of lifelong and lifewide learning and education, and the strategies of their realization, Adulthood/maturity – concept and types, Key principles of education of adults, Education and learning of adults – relation, conceptions and approaches, Learning types and models: Empirical learning, Self-centred learning, Transformative learning; Practical course: Educational needs and interests of adults – theories and models of research of needs, Motivation and participation in education of adults; Concept and types of evaluation.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the programme student understands: - the different conceptions of adult education; - methodological-epistemological status of adult education; - the determinants and functions of education of adults – the particularities and forms of adult learning; - categorical concepts of adult education.
