Course objectives: Introduction into different philosophical orientations in adult education and training students for philosophical analysis of different problems of adult education.

Course description: Theoretical course: The philosophy of adult education, Liberal adult education, Progressivism in adult education, Behaviourism in adult education, Humanistic philosophy of adult education, Radical philosophy of adult education, Analytical philosophy of adult education. Feminism and adult education. Ethics and morals in adult education. Practical course: Depending on the subject of doctoral dissertations and professional needs and interests of students, certain problems and questions from theoretical course are being reviewed in the form of students’ essays, research and reports.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course student is capable: - of understanding the implications of different philosophical orientations in adult education; - of analysing ethical problems of adult education; - of understanding implicit assumptions in theory and practice of adult education.
