Pre-requisites: Condition of registration: Exam "Sociology of mental disorders" passed.

Course objectives: The goal of this course is to make doctoral students familiar with sociology of dependency disorders - sociology of alcoholism and substance abuse.

Course description: Topics engaged with: theories of phenomenology and etymology of chemical dependence disorders (alcoholism and drug abuse), with special emphasis on sociological and socio-cultural theories and studies; epidemiology and consequences of substance abuse, both individual and social; prevention programs in Europe, USA and Serbia; economic factors regarding rehabilitation, social security, etc.

Learning Outcomes: Studying and exploring sociological theories about alcohol abuse and different rehabilitation models, the students will also be enabled to participate in establishing prevention strategies and programs.
