Pre-requisites: To successfully complete this course, students must be familiar with fundamental sociological ideas (Introduction to Sociology) and be able to understand and access literature in a foreign language.
Course objectives: The goal of this course is to enable students to successfully engage in social research on relevant social issues by using methods learned in this class and in "Methods of Social Research II."
Course description: This is a foundation course in methods of social research which includes learning epistemological principles of sociological theory relevant to research, addresses the relationship of theoretical standpoints and methods employed in research, and teaches methods to collect data and find sources.
Learning Outcomes: The ability to collect and use social material & data through empirical sociological methods of research
