Pre-requisites: Basic high-school level insights in European history and the history of philosophy

Course objectives: The goal of this course is to reconstruct the "prehistory" of political and social sciences in order for students to be able to understand two courses in the field of history of sociology: Classical sociological theories and Contemporary sociological theories.

Course description: The content of this course are the main streams in political and social thought in Europe (and later in America) from the 5th to the 18th century AD

Learning Outcomes: Students will be acquainted with the theoretical foundations upon which political and social sciences were established in 19th century.
