Course objectives: The goal of this course is for students to master their ability to independently use their theoretical-analytical apparatus in analyzing contemporary society and social change, especially related to Serbia and its immediate surroundings, as well as the process of incorporating Serbia in current world-historic societies.

Course description: This course will develop a critical analysis of foundational sociological ideas and their uses in social research. More attention will be given to ideas that are related to studying social systems and social change. This course focuses on studying contemporary, modern societies, especially social groups in Serbia and nurtures an interdisciplinary (sociological, historical, economic, social-psychological etc) and comparative approach.

Learning Outcomes: Candidates will be capable of independent scientific work in this field, by analyzing social processes and social change, especially on the subject of social stratification in modern societies.
