Course objectives: Introducing students to the web of essential ideas connected to studying traditional and post/modern culture and the dynamics of cultural change. Introducing students to changes in contemporary approaches to studying tradition. Enabling students to complete independent work.
Course description: This course will cover the following topics: 1. Continuity and discontinuity of tradition 2. Social change and tradition, modernization and tradition 3. Global culture and tradition 4. National culture, identity and tradition 5. Tradition and pop culture
Learning Outcomes: Students who complete this course will have gained essential theoretical knowledge that will help them study and differentiate current social and cultural changes, especially regarding the process of globalization and re-traditionalization of culture.
