Pre-requisites: No special requirements other than background knowledge of economics and general sociology.

Course objectives: The objective of this course is for students to gain insight about the dynamics and requirements facing sustainable development, as well as to enable students to be able to describe and analyze social issues prevalent in sustainable development.

Course description: Lectures will address issues on the relationship between economy, society and the environment, health issues, economic equality, social cohesion, dominant lifestyles. The practical component of the course will consists of analyzing documents from the political sphere and various areas of sustainable development, from general findings to articles on proposed steps for change. In addition, certain topics and issues will be chosen to be examined and for which to propose methods and actions, as well as practical political solutions.

Learning Outcomes: After passing the course exam, students will be capable of recognizing and responding appropriately to problems in sustainable development by analyzing, describing and suggesting solutions or political steps necessary to achieve sustainable development.
