Pre-requisites: Statistics in Psychology 1 and 2 and Methodology of Psychological Research

Course objectives: Introduction to types of items and psychological instruments. Familiarisation with procedures for determining internal metric properties of instruments. Construction of a psychological instrument and the manual for it. Ethical issues.

Course description: Definition of Psychometrics and basis of psychometric approach to measurement, individual differences as a subject of interest in psychology. Theory, construct, latent and manifest variables, indicator, data. The principles of item and test construction. Classical test theory and internal metric properties of instruments - Discriminativity, Inter-rater reliability, Reliability (the standard error of measurement), Generalizability, Homogeneity. IRT - Item Response Theory and internal metric properties of instruments. Ethical issues of testing.

Learning Outcomes: Acquired advanced concepts, information and methodological resources. The ability to critically evaluate theories, methods and contents of professional and scientific production. Capacity for scientific research, multidisciplinary collaboration, manuscript and project writing.
