Education of Leaders

Pre-requisites: Management and Marketing in Education exam

Course objectives: Training students to understand the significance and the role of leader in different areas of action, to create and apply adequate educational models in the process of development of leader competences.

Course description: Theoretical course • Theoretical approach to leadership – leadership as a research subject of numerous disciplines; • The roles of a leader in a changing world (in different areas of action – business, entrepreneurship, culture, politics, science, profession...) • Theories and styles of leadership; • Strategic leadership; • The role of power in leadership (types of power and effects of using the power) • Training of leaders. Practical course • Leadership in modern practice; • Styles of leadership; • Leader skills/competences – needs and models; • Leadership and team management; • Managing the leaders’ training (planning, organizing, conducting, assessing and controlling); • Particularities of leaders’ training realization.

Learning Outcomes: Student: - Understands the leader roles; - Assesses the importance of the leader’s areas of action for designing the development of leader skills; - Applies different approaches to development of leader competences; - Creates models for development of leader competences; - Manages the training of leaders.
