Course objectives: For student to thoroughly master the development of pedagogical theory and educational practice in Serbia and to be trained for individual research work in the field of National History of Pedagogy.

Course description: Development and methodological problems of national history of pedagogy. European context of the development of pedagogical theory and practice in Serbia: pre-herbartian pedagogy, scientific pedagogy, work/active school, cultural education, experimental pedagogy, old and new school in Serbian pedagogy. Development of pedagogical periodicals, pedagogical and textbook literature. Education in family, school and society in Serbia in 19th and 20th century. Understanding of the child and education in textbooks and school books. The history of teaching and learning in Serbian schools. The history of vocational education in Serbia.

Learning Outcomes: Student thoroughly knows the development of pedagogical theory and practice in Serbia. Student correlates pedagogical heritage with modern pedagogy. Individually realizes research in the field of National History of Education.
