Course objectives: The course provides a fundamental overview of the historical development of anthropological ideas, concepts and terms that are created within the main ethnological / anthropological schools of thought.

Course description: Definition and objective of ethnology and anthropology. Basic concepts and theoretical apparatus. Chronological presentation of anthropological schools from the emergence of science proper to the mid-20th century. Introduction to relevant anthropologists, their work and theoretical and methodological contributions.

Learning Outcomes: It is expected that students gain knowledge of the relevant anthropological schools of thought, and their major representatives. It is required to interiorize what the aim of study of ethnology and anthropology is, and to be able to understand and apply fundamental scientific concepts.
