Political Psychology

Pre-requisites: Enrolled PhD

Course objectives: The main objective of the course is to acquaint students with ways to use knowledge of psychological disciplines can be explained by a number of political phenomena. Students need to become competent to recognize a stable basis in a variety of everyday forms of political life, understand them from the position of psychologists and analyze and interprete them with arguments.

Course description: The course content will include knowledge of various topics in which psychology contributes to the explanation of political phenomena: political socialization, through studying different aspects of personality in politics, values, ideology and public opinion, group identity, political cohesion, prejudice and conflict, collective political action, and cross-cultural similarities and peculiarities.

Learning Outcomes: Adoption of the basic concepts, understanding of basic theoretical approaches in political psychology, capacity for independent scientific research and understanding of deeper psychological bases of the phenomenon in the field of politics.
