Course objectives: The course aims to develop the creative abilities of students in the final year of study and refer them to the use of artworks as texts for the analysis of urban life.

Course description: The subject deals with the relationship between urbanity and art, and examines how the problems of urban life are portrayed in the works of art, specifically in literature and film. Topics that are covered under the Urban anthropology course (in the previous year) will be examined through artistic expressions, such as: urban space and time, immigration and adjustment to urban life, family and kinship, culture, social class and their mobility (culture of poverty, middle class and elite), ethnicity and social networks and ethnic relations.

Learning Outcomes: The course enables students to reflect independently, to creatively analyze works of art (with written and visual expression) as texts for the study of urban culture and society.
