Course objectives: To acquire and expand knowledge about roman art, connection with Hellenism, Etruscans, authentic expression, contrast between realism and idealism and archaeism versus classicism the essence of roman art, art and politics – the greatest achievement of imperial thought.

Course description: The Etruscan heritage, art during the roman republican period – roman portrait and utilitarian architecture; imperial art – the golden age of Augustus, classicism of the II century, dynamic expressionism in the III century publishing of the Plotinus’ guidelines, ecumenism in the time of the tetrarchs, religious tolerance during the reign of Constantine – the story of the sarcophagus.
