Course objectives: An introduction to the most important issues and opportunities facing the Serbs under austrian rule; addressing the issue of serbian involvement in the habsburg military, social and religious organization and the past austrian Kingdom of Serbia(1718-1739).

Course description: Theoretical component:lecture on major issues and developments in the history of the Serbian people under the Habsburg Monarchy. The course will focus on migrations, social structure and acculturation, demography, national and social institutions, agrarian relations and the influence of the austro-hungarian wars on serbian territories. Practical component has two parts - consultations in small groups to address papers and topics, and, the second part - presenting one's work before the class, and debating. The goal is for students to be able to conduct independent work, scientific argumentation and critical assessment of sources and literature, as well as present their findings in written and oral form.

Learning Outcomes: Mastering course materials, historical methods and arguments in historiography, students will be provided a long-term base of knowledge for critically assessing questions in the history of the Serbs during the Habsburg Monarchy.
