Archaeozoology

Pre-requisites: None

Course objectives: To enable students to independently make taxonomic analysis of faunal remnants, use different methods to analyze archaeozoological material and to interpret the results of their research.

Course description: Archaeozoology studies; the classification of animals and rules of taxonomic nomenclature, bone tissue, teeth, skeletons, identification, domestication of : dogs, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, cats, secondary exploitation of animals, remnants of birds, herpetofauna, invertebrates at archeological sites. Osteologic material modification, butchering, bone artifacts and archeofauna in Serbia.

Learning Outcomes: Midterm examination, essay and oral examination
